Hey sports fans! While we ramp up towards what promises to be an exciting weekend at the draft, I have a message to pass along from friend of the blog Nick DeFazio of the Ottawa Fire Department.

On Saturday, June 28th, the Ottawa Fire Department will be hosting a Boot Drive from 10am-6pm at Bayshore Mall. A “Boot Drive” is a tradition within Canadian Fire Departments where they hold out Fire Boots and people throw in money, with all the donations going towards Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Other than being a great cause on its own, this event is of interest to Sens fans because Ottawa Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki will be in attendance from 12-1pm. Boro Cop will be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.

But wait! There's more! Sparky the fire dog will be there from 11am-1pm, as well as the famous Ottawa Senators Cheer Team.

Muscular Dystrophy has been the #1 Charity for Canadian Fire Departments for 60 years. For more information, visit this site.
