Photoshop Gameday Preview - Winnipeg @ Ottawa

by Capital Gains

It's game day! The Senators kick off 2014 with a game against the Jets tonight and are on a relative roll, having finished 2013 by winning two straight for the first time since November. Can they make it three straight? Dare to dream, Sens fans! Here are your story lines for tonight's game:
  • Jason Spezza and Chris Neil are both battling injuries and will be out of the lineup tonight. Though they allegedly missed the team's New Year's Party to stay in and recuperate, eagle-eyed TV viewers may have spotted the following:
Sens fans will still complain they "dropped the ball" even though that was the whole point.
    • With Neil being the latest veteran to succumb to injury, Winnipeg native Mark Stone has been recalled to face his hometown team. Here he is making his way to Ottawa, Winnipeg-style:
We will never not make a transportation joke when a guy is called up.
      • The US Olympic team has announced its men's hockey roster for Sochi, and the most notable snub has to be Sens forward Bobby Ryan. Thankfully, Chet Sellers was on hand to report that the mood is staying positive at Senators HQ:
That stomach flu really did a number on Methot.
        • Winnipeg's Dustin Byfuglien was also left off the US Olympic roster. This is bad news for Matt Kassian, as his biggest competition will now have two extra weeks to train for this year's World Pie Eating Championship.
Kassian tweeting a picture of each pie before he eats it really slows him down.
          • Unlike Byfuglien and Ryan, Jets winger Blake Wheeler did make the cut for the US Olympic team. He was seen handing these flyers around the CTC this morning:
This looks shopped. You can tell by some of the pixels and also the medals aren't silver.
            • Finally, after more than half a season of Ottawa lighting mups, this could be the opportunity for one mup to take their revenge:
Olli Jokinen is the only mup remaining after The Great Mup Lighting of 2013.
              Enjoy the game tonight!
